Ohio Governor Gravesites - An introduction

It was maybe only a matter of time after I set out to see the gravesites of all of the Presidents of the United States that I would eventually start looking for the final resting places of the Governors of my state. To date I have visited 34 of the 38 Presidential Gravesites. You can read all about that on my Presidential sites blog - potushistoricalsites.blogspot.com .

Gravehunting in general has become a hobby of mine that I have really come to enjoy. And there are many categories that you can pursue. During a trip to the Los Angeles area to visit the Reagan and Nixon Libraries, I was able to find the gravesites of several big name stars. Which led me start celebritygravesites.blogspot.com .

I have met several people on line through my Presidents sites hobby who have started collecting Governor Gravesites in their own respective states. On http://www.patspresidentialplaces.com/ my friend Pat posts pictures of his quest to visit all the the New York State Governor Gravesites, as well as Presidential and Vice Presidential Gravesites. On tngovernorgraves.blogspot.com my friend Josh writes about his quest to visit all of the Tennessee Governor Gravesites. On mcgady.net/ms/dgov/deadgovernorsnj_main.html my friend Frank writes about his quest to find the New Jersey Governor Gravesites. To my knowledge I am the first one to try to find all of the Governor of Ohio Gravesites.

Current Ohio Governor John Kasich is the 69th Governor of Ohio. Of 69, 6 are still alive. To add confusion in the spirit of Grover Cleveland, of the others there are a few who served non consecutive term. So when you subtract those we have 56 Governor Gravesites that a gravehunter like myself can go visit. So far I have visited 15 of them. 7 of them are out of state. So for now I will probably focus on the ones in Ohio. 2 of them, Rutherford B. Hayes and William McKinley also served as President. And one, Salmon P. Chase, would go one to be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Ohio Statehouse, Columbus, Ohio. After William McKinley was assassinated this memorial was put here on the Statehouse grounds in his honor.

Governors office in the Ohio State Capital Building. Every Governor since Salmon P. Chase has used this office. Abraham Lincoln was in this office when he recieved word that he had been elected President.

To start with I will start making pages for the Governor Gravesites that I have already visited. I will start at the begining with the first Graves that I have visited and go in that order.

If you are still reading then congrats! You are one of the select few people who are interested in this stuff. I hope that you enjoy!
